GRIDWATCH

Battle Command & Control System

Next-Generation Tactical C2

GRIDWATCH is Frontier Defense Technology's flagship battle command and control platform, purpose-built for contested multi-domain operations at the battalion-to-brigade echelon. Fusing real-time geospatial intelligence, terrain-aware force tracking, and AI-assisted course-of-action analysis, GRIDWATCH delivers a common operating picture that enables commanders to make faster, better-informed decisions under pressure.

Originally developed under a 2018 program of record, GRIDWATCH has matured from an R&D prototype into a combat-proven system fielded to three operational commands. The multi-billion-dollar full-rate production contract awarded in February 2026 will extend fielding across all active-duty brigade combat teams through 2030.

Operational Concept

GRIDWATCH replaces legacy stovepipe C2 systems with a unified tactical picture rendered on a ruggedized tablet. Commanders see friendly and enemy dispositions, terrain analysis, fires coverage, and logistics status in a single interface - no switching between systems, no manual correlation.

The platform operates in DDIL (denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited) environments through a mesh-network synchronization architecture. When satellite or terrestrial links are severed, GRIDWATCH nodes maintain local situational awareness and reconcile automatically when connectivity is restored.

AI-Assisted Decision Support

GRIDWATCH incorporates a course-of-action (COA) generation engine that analyzes terrain, force ratios, logistics constraints, and historical engagement patterns to recommend tactical options. The AI advisor presents options ranked by probability of mission success - the commander always retains decision authority.

Decision data collected through the GRIDWATCH: QRF training platform is continuously integrated into the COA engine, improving recommendation quality with every operational test cycle.

Coalition Deployment

In February 2026, NATO approved iPhone and iPad to handle classified NATO information, validating the hardware platform underpinning GRIDWATCH. This certification accelerates coalition fielding and eliminates the need for custom ruggedized hardware in many operational scenarios, allowing allied forces to deploy GRIDWATCH on commercially available iPad Pro devices with approved protective cases.

Fielding & Production

Initial operational capability was achieved in Q2 2024 with fielding to the 4th Combined Arms Division. Subsequent deployments to VII Expeditionary Corps and 2nd Littoral Operations Group validated interoperability across ground and maritime echelons. The FRP contract covers production of 4,200 systems through FY2030.
